FAQsDo I need to register before I come?It is not mandatory to register first, You can drop in anytime! What do I need to bring? You will need a mat, some water, and anything else you may be using to aid in your practice (blocks, straps, pillows, etc.) I currently do not have any mats in stock to sell, However you can pick one up at your local Yoga store or studio, Walmart also has them for around $20-$50 depending on the mat you choose. What should I wear? Come in something light and comfortable. I practice Yoga in bear feet, But feel free to bring some socks along, they come in handy for our relaxation at the end of class. How much does a class cost? $5 drop in for now. Next year I will have punch cards available for purchase, up to 20 classes, with discounts! What class should I choose? Gentle Yoga is meant for everyone, with a Gentle Approach to Yoga asana, and a bit of a slower pace, beginners have a chance to learn and those experienced have the opportunity to deepen. Flow Yoga is a bit faster paced, But with lots of instruction. If you are looking for something more, along with a great workout, this class is for you. What can I expect at my first Yoga class? If you have never stepped foot into a Yoga class, it can sometimes feel like entering into some spiritual realm, that maybe you are not expecting. With the media suggesting Yoga is just some crazy twisted pose, or sitting cross legged meditating under a tree, we can sometimes get intimidated or even think its silly. There is a style of Yoga for every person, if you find your self unsatisfied, its probably not Yoga, but the style or even the teacher, never stop looking. Just go with an open mind down the path to your heart.

Sanskrit- An ancient indian languge dated back to 3000bc. We use sanskrit words for Yoga postures, and chanting. Namaste- Sometimes used at the beginning of class, but always at the end, meaning "The light in me honors the light in you" SAVASANA-meaning corpse pose, This pose can be done at the beginning, middle or end of a Yoga class, But is usually left for the ending. (wikipedia). A chant done at the beginning or end of your class, igniting our chakra energies. A true connection to the earth, all words are made from AUM SHANTI- means peace, in sanskrit. CHAKRAS-A chakra is believed to be a center of activity that receives, assimilates, and expresses life force energy. The word chakra literally translates as wheel or disk and refers to a spinning sphere of bioenergetic activity emanating from the major nerve ganglia branching forward from the spinal column.
Generally, six of these wheels are described, stacked in a column of
energy that spans from the base of the spine to the middle of the
forehead, the seventh lying beyond the physical world. It is the six
major chakras that correlate with basic states of consciousness (wikipedia). Chakras connect us to our true self and the universal energy, every pose ignites a different chakra, open up and getting the energy flowing.
